problem with hiding your doubts

when i started this career after taking up a course in MCA, I have always been unlucky in not getting answers to my simple questions from my lecturers, such as how exactly a linker works under the hood and what exactly happens when we click a executable under windows, why does that exe does not run under windows. i thought these were simple enough questions which i should know without asking anyone, but did the fundamental mistake of not digging deeper into these concepts then itself, for people who are rushing into IT for big bucks by joining some institutions and getting some degress, here is a little suggestion "KNOW YOUR BASICS WELL", you can never be a good programmer without getting your basics right, throw those MIS and SDLC, coding books away for while and get a good OS Book which is practical in nature again books which teach you theory are not enough, here is a good starter from one of the guys who really knows what he is talking about
